I can’t be certain if this is my main or my alt account, but you’re here and I’m here, so, hello!

I’m a #musician and a lover of #technology (most of my “hobby time” is spent working on various bits of #OpenSource server software with a recent heavy lean towards #ActivityPub).

This account resides on an instance of #snac2 (an ActivityPub server software) running on #arm64.

Also, I’m a lifelong, massive, #StarTrek fan. I love it all, I don’t hate on any Trek, it’s all good. Especially the bad.

I would be curious to see the amount of monthly active users federating via #ActivityPub that are _not_ using #Mastodon as their server instance. Basically I want to know the number of folks that actively use the #fediverse sans Mastodon statistics.

Anyone got an idea?

@Turnimunt@mastodon.social I know I’ve seen a site that basically lists statistics for all the different ActivityPub servers, just can’t remember where it was. Maybe it would be possible to get a rough calculation based on info there?

@Turnimunt @jrollans you'd probably just need to send out a post and monitor for incoming verifications or wharever.
then from there you'd just check to see if it was a mastodon user, if not than increment a number.

@loganer@mastodon.social It can be pretty fun to run servers like that, I’ve had a few different ActivityPub services over the past few years. There are a LOT of different servers these days.
