I wish #AI talked more like the computer on #StarTrek: emotionless staccato voice, artificially high register with vocabulary limited to the task at hand, no use of the first person pronoun, so you know it's a machine. If it doesn't know something it should just say "Unable to comply" instead of making stuff up. Instead the #llms we have today talk like #holodeck characters with the safeties turned off. Or Mudd's obsequious androids who wanted to "serve" humans in order to enslave them.

Star Trek Voyager scene. We're in an old stoney brickey small church environment and the EMH Doctor seems to be back on his bullshit. He's wearing priestly clothing, all black, and pointing with rage and fury, his face all tense and snarled and he's gritting his (holographic) teeth. Closed caption reads, "Sinners, all of you." TBH it feels like an exclamation point would fit better here but closed captions sometimes miss the intensity. So please, dear reader, you have my encouragement to read it with a ! At the end because that's the "vibe".

I love (and collect) all kinds of non-fiction books about #StarTrek. I would love if this one got made. If this is is something that you also find interesting and can get behind, go for it! :-)

Starfleet Academy isn't necessarily the best Trek. The new setting post-Burn feels small and bleak, much of the sci-fi has an emphasis on seeming like magic rather than science, and the sense of discovery and wonder is entirely absent.

But gosh, it's fantastic storytelling. I thought it a bit blunt at first, feeling like Galaxy High, but things got better fast. The latest episode was absolutely wonderful.

Plus the chuds all hate it.

My favourite planet shots on #StarTrek are the ones featuring ring-planets or planets together with their moons (coloured differently). #StarfleetAcademy's "Ko'Zeine"⬆️ features this stunning shot, reminding me of similar shots in "Power Play"↙️ and "The Raven"↘️.

The fact that Klingons do not have a high tolerance for the cold, which is mentioned by Jay-Den in #StarfleetAcademy's "Ko'Zeine"⬆️, was originally established in the #StarTrekVOY episode "Displaced"⬇️. That is why we watched the #VOY episode on our weekly #StarTrek night yesterday. :-)

Here's a good look at Nahla Ake's USS Enterprise-D model (and her Oberth class in the background), as seen in #StarfleetAcademy's "Ko'Zeine". I can still remember building this as a kid. I had watched #StarTrek and read about Star Trek but being able to hold a piece of Star Trek in my hands was magnificent.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. Brunt, a Ferengi, is pictured in what kind of looks like a hobbit house. Smaller than normal houses, the kind you have to duck low to get through a doorway, less straight lines, more curves and rounded.
