I’ve used @bufferapp and @Publer for when I want to schedule a post. Both are awesome tools with lots of functionality. But, for my use case, both are overkill… all I do is post random #memes and #StarTrek stuff.

#Mastodon natively supports schedule posts in the backend and there are two apps that I have been using.

A while ago, I discovered that @phanpy scan schedule posts using the little calendar icon.

I also found and use TootLater by @mikakruschel on my iOS devices. It is simple and straightforward.

The new combadges (cadet ⬅️, Lt. ⏺️, Captain ➡️), introduced in #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy (and maybe only in use aboard the USS Athena ⬇️) are indeed based on a dorsal view of the USS Athena (or vice versa) ⬆️, as seen in the latest teaser clip. We'll find out more in 5 1/2 weeks! :-)

I'll finish my coverage of #StarTrekTNG's "Half a Life" tonight. As always, that means "for now", as I'm sure I'll always find new things I haven't noticed before in later rewatches. Six weeks to the day when I first cast this on, and I’m happy to tell you that the #Startrek double #knitting scarf is complete!

This has been such a fun, and very challenging, project to make, at times feeling like it was never going to end.

I decided to make it fully, including the beads and I also added a fringe because every scarf needs a fringe if you ask me!

This is a surprise Christmas gift for a very close friend who’s a huge fan, I can’t wait to see the look on his face when he gets it!

I’m going to take a break from knitting now for this month, but there’s lots of other fun stuff lined up for next year.

Would love an analysis with the considerations used by UX designers and engineers for mission-critical displays.

(My guess is this #retro #SciFi font has never been used in a serious real-world interface in #NASA, the military, a hospital, ATC, or flight control.)

The original version of #StarTrek TNG's "Half a Life" (1st column) features footage of the Enterprise-D filmed for "TBoBWI" and flipped (2nd column). That footage was also used in the remastered version of the"TBoBWI" (4th) but strangely, a different shot filmed for "TBoBWII" (3rd) was used for the remastered version of "Half a Life". I don't know why this was done.

In the Starfleet Technical Manual, there is a throwaway detail of the LCARS user interface that when it is upgraded, users can still utilize the previous several versions. This is because their work is mission-critical and it is unacceptable to compromise the mission by forcing unfamiliar changes; eventual retraining is part of their job, but the flexibility allows them to take the retraining at their own pace.

I think about this from time-to-time and how this is still a sci-fi idea that is seen all too rarely in how we do actual computer UIs.

Yeah. I kind of assumed Curzon must've been one of the extras in the film, but there's no reason to jump to that conclusion.

So Jadzia says in DS9 that she (as Curzon) negotiated the Khitomer Accords. But that was part of the plot of "The Undiscovered Country." So Curzon Dax must have been around during the events of that film. Yet in "Trials & Tribble-ations," she acts like she's never seen Spock before. She says he's, "More handsome than I expected."

Anyone familiar with this? I guess it can be explained, but maybe there is an explanation (eg, I'm misremembering something).

Is the Master Replica representative of the original prop materials? Were there different variations on the TOS coffee cup? Was #StarTrek using "futuristic" foam cups like "futuristic" spray bottles?

The commander disobeing order to the captain in the first and also attacking her? Xenophobic military propaganda? I didn’t like it and that I like Deep Space Nine.

Now I’m watching Lower Decks, is very funny and has a lot of references to other Star Trek series, is really good, I don’t understand how a comedy who is almost a parody catch more the Star Trek vibes more than a serious production. I hope Strange New Worlds have something good, because I was already disapointed by the three seasons of Picard and the first episode of discovery.

One episode of #StarTrekDS9 I haven’t discussed since recently watching through is “Trials and Tribble-ations” (S5E06). I’ve thought about it often & thought: There’s so much not to discuss. It’s a well-known episode based on one of the best-known #StarTrek episodes of all time.

Most of the episode has several DS9/Defiant crew members onboard the Enterprise & K-7 during “The Trouble with Tribbles.” There are a number of scenes with them superimposed in period uniform within the original scene. This was done in the vicinity of 1995. Today this would be unremarkable. It was nice work, at least, for the time.

Bringing back Charlie Brill as Arne Darvin (one of those names I assume, in any given room, only I’ve known most of my life) intent on sabotaging the past to redeem his failure was a nice way to approach the story. That Orb of Time came in handy pretty often in the writers’ room.

As a die-hard #StarTrekTOS fan who doesn’t really give much of a shit about anything since 1982 & can hardly spell Picard, I have to say that the scene in the bar on K-7 where Worf explains what the deal is with Klingons & Tribbles is one of the highlights of the entire franchise. I have a hard time getting through it without dissolving in tears & giggles when he gets to “mortal enemies of the Klingon Empire” & the Klingon invasion of “the Tribble homeworld.” Such a glorious addition to Trek Lore. “Do they still sing songs of the Great Tribble Hunt?” Stop. lol

Star Trek Deep Space Nine scene. Brunt, a Ferengi, is pictured in what kind of looks like a hobbit house. Smaller than normal houses, the kind you have to duck low to get through a doorway, less straight lines, more curves and rounded. He's in front of one of these hobbit hole doors and outside you see a patio and some greenery. Back to Brunt, he's a Ferengi so we know he has a big exaggerated bald head and giant earlobes, but in this scene he's also wearing a 1980's era Michael Jackson style red leather jacket with a bunch of ornate leather markings and fanciness.
