Last thought on a not well known travel hack: Royal Air Moroc offers free “stopovers” (extra long connection possibly multiple days) for folks flying from one destination to another connecting at their hub in Casablanca. I got to spend a day playing tourist there before continuing my journey to Abidjan.

When I met with RAM’s CEO I shared they needed to better advertise the stopover. He told me Casablanca isn’t great for tourism. Which after a day of exploration I couldn’t believe I was hearing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Newest Strange New Worlds was another dud in my opinion. I'm very disappointed in this season so far.

Not that any individual episode in itself has been especially awful, but they're all so gimmicky. And I've nothing against a gimmicky Trek episode; they're a grand tradition. But if every week is a gimmick it loses impact. And it looks like next week will be another one. 😫

I'm not saying I want to order a boatload of drugs but what about that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode hey.

Finally Prodigy, whilst a kids show is solid Star Trek and actually worth at least one watch through for any commited Star Trek fan.

Sometimes it feels a little too JJ-Abrahmsy. I once said about it "so much lens flare. We must protect the retinas of our children"

I was not a fan of the protagonist I'll be honest. But I watched it, no regrets. Expands the lore in some interesting ways as well, especially post-Voyager.

Next comes Academy.... but one note....

Episode 1 of Academy was some of the worst trek I've ever seen. It was terrible. Horrific. Honestly, it should be expunged from the universe. It allowed its genre to get in the way of good story telling.

But the whiplash to Episode 2 couldn't be more violent. And the rest of the season ended up being... largely fine... with some genuine bright spots.

The Doctor being back? Love it.

Discovery Season 3:

Bloat and churn continues. This season is and ensemble of ensembles. It sucked. Poor writing or direction.

Blu del Barrio great addition.
David Ajala, okayish.
Ian Alexander, pretty meh.
Oded Fehr, wasted.
David Cronenberg, monotone gets old.

Bright spots: More Captain Saru. Georgiou's departure 2-parter.

Low spot: Saru making Tilly first officer. Made no sense. Missed opportunity to further the story of the talented and underutilised bridge crew actors.

Discovery Season 4:

Whilst the character bloat remains I largely enjoyed it. Partly because the cast doesn't really change and it gets a chance to breath a little bit.

I was left warning more Colbert, more Owo. I wanted more Dettmer.

This was a little bit of a redemption season. A tighter focus. Tilly was moved to one side which was a loss but Adira Tal grew and benefitted from less focus on Gray. Still don't think the ship needed three main cast engineers.

Season 5:

A lack of Dettmer and Owo this season left me really frustrated.

This was only marginally redeemed by the fact that we at least get to see one Lt Cmdr Gen Rhys take the con.

That it took this long for any of the non-main cast bridge crew ensemble taking the helm remains Discovery's biggest sin.

The season concept was fine. But the Breen were such a step back and continues Disco's poor form in depictions of TNG era aliens.

Final sin. Still no prime-Lorca since S1.

Discovery, Discovery, Discovery.

Every season is flawed in its own unique way so going deeper here.

Season 1: Strong opening. But what did they do to the klingons?? Lorca is amazing. Georgiou is amazing. Skipping the entire klingon war was certainly A CHOICE. I admit making the serial story telling entirely from the perspective of Deus Ex Machina was somewhat novel. And why it should never be repeated again.

Rushed and lacked character development of the wider crew.

I like how #StarTrekSNW (and other new #StarTrek shows) keep the tradition alive of re-using everyday 20th/21st century objects, like the transparent garden hose used as an energy conduit/cable in "The Griffin Incident"⬆️. Does anybody know the Navy protocol for addressing an officer as “Mister”? They call Spock that a lot in TOS, but not in SNW.

I think it is the form of address for the executive officer, AKA the second in command or first officer or number one. Anybody know for sure?
