I am the person I am because of Star Trek. Only being a teacher, that came way before Star Trek. It's ridiculous and it's awesome! :-)

"Aztec" paneling for Starbase in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, from a Propstore.com Auction listing of Star Trek memorabilia. They are two black and white trapezoids with mirrored geometrical details, which are applied to a model, practical or 3D, to break up the hull surface and give it more detail, usually by changing how reflective the surface is, in small, but visible amounts. It also helps sell the scale of the ships. "Greebles" or "Nurnies" are small geometric detail that fulfills a similar purpose.
It's called "Aztecing" because of the pattern similarities to Aztec art. It started with Star Trek: The Motion Picture and has been carried forward. I think Richard Taylor coined the phrase. Richard was the Art Director of TMP in charge of building the refit Enterprise we love so much.

At the beginning, I was really averse to the idea of one season of #StarTrek dropping on the same day. I still am but now I'm looking forward to immersing myself in 8 hours of new content of #StarTrekProdigy tomorrow. It's a completely new (but hopefully singular) experience! :-)
I started working on my #StarTrek lecture PowerPoint presentation today, covered everything until late 2020 when I started work as a research assistant on #StarTrekPicard. Crazy how many years I've already been a Trekkie and grateful for all the joy it has brought me over the years!
One of the problems with working on stuff way into the future is that sometimes you need to remind yourself what year it is.

The wedding scene in #StarTrekTNG's "Data's Day" features something else rarely seen on #StarTrek: It seems Data's dance with Keiko was recorded using two difgerent cameras located very close to each other. The scene cuts from one angle/shot to another but it's the same take.🤯
This shot in #StarTrekTNG's "Data's Day" is one of the super rare occurrences of a wiping transition on #StarTrek. The woman in the foreground hides the cut from one shot ↖️ to another ↘️ by her movement. So very #StarWars! ;-)
I feel it's high time to state this again: When I watch and write about #StarTrek, I do so with an eye on the production point of view. I know that, in universe, we might see a different part of the medical facilities in that one episode (when I want to talk about a redress of the sickbay set). Or a scanner totally might be multifunctional in universe (when in reality a prop quickly needed to be found so anything already there would do). I'm fascinated by how and why things were ingeniously created/modified/re-used for/on the Star Trek shows and films and it gives me immense pleasure trying to figure this out and write about it. I need nobody to tell me to get a life or touch the grass when I'm so happy at what I'm doing. Please understand, respect and maybe enjoy and learn from this! 🖖

I loved this book in the late 90's! It lists appearances of all #StarTrek actors in other films/TV shows, like imdb... in a book. I would watch Columbo, Quincy, M.E. or just TV with this book in hand. If I found a Star Trek name from this book in the opening credits - Bingo!! :-)
I love when non-canon #StarTrek logos are made canon. This (almost/somehow) happened in the 2009 "Star Trek" film. All the Romulan costumes had the Nemesis promotional logo and FASA Romulan logo stamped on the inside, the only time that FASA logo "appeared" in any film/episode.👌
On #StarTrek, we've seen several episodes featuring future versions of main characters (and their closest relatives), living in a timeline in which something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I'm glad we got to see Admiral Burnham in a future where everything turned out right! :-)
I love that Admiral Burnham's shuttle at the end of #StarTrekDiscovery's "Life, Itself" is named UFP-47, keeping the old injoke of all the 47s in #StarTrek alive until the 33rd century. It doesn't take much to make me happy and this made me happy. :-)
Went with my 5th-graders to our local archaeology museum, hosting a dinosaur exhibition, today. They had one of those Borg thingies and then an Eryops. Yes, an excited Herr Hillebrand got to tell his kids some #StarTrek stories and recommended #StarTrekProdigy to get started!😊🖖

Two years later, in 2022, the Betazoid emblem also appeared on one of the Federation member flags seen at Starfleet Academy in #StarTrekPicard's "The Star Gazer", giving the species an official flag! I hope this flag is still somewhere in the #StarTrek archives! 8/14
It was also seen up close in the "Remembrance" Ready Room episode. Notice the Betazoid emblem seen on the trophy (clearly evoking the Holy Rings of Lwaxana Troi fame). In canon #StarTrek, meaning all of the episodes and films so far, no Betazoid/Betazed emblem was ever seen. 3/14
One of the trophies seen in Picard's quantum archive in #StarTrekPicard's"Remembrance" is a Betazoid Loyalties award. The prop was seen at several #StarTrek exhibitions and I first noticed the trophy in @trekcore gallery of the exhibition but quickly forgot about it. 2/14

I love how much we saw of the Betazoid logo/emblem in #StarTrekDiscovery's "Erigah". The original logo was designed by David Bilic (aka Zeleni), a #StarTrek fan, who created the logo in 2007 for the fan-based Birth of the Federation 2 gaming mod ↘️. It's canon baby! :-)

Last night, I had my most-often recurring dream again: going into a store and finding a new edition of the Star Trek Fact Files with new starship schematics of an alien ship. I don't dream about being on the Enterprise or in a #StarTrek episode, I dream about this. Quite telling! 😅

Romulans use the same conical cargo containers in #StarTrekTNG's "Future Imperfect"↗️ that are also in use by Gatherers ("The Vengeance Factor"↖️) and Zibalians ("The Most Toys"↘️). On #StarTrek, these containers first appeared on Regula in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"↙️.
Early in #StarTrekDiscovery's "Mirrors", we get a good look at the Orion species emblem, already glimpsed in season 4. It is distinct, both from the 32nd century Emerald Chain logo and any earlier Orion emblem, seen in 23rd and 24th century #StarTrek.

In my early 20s, I watched Star Trek: #TheNextGeneration religiously on my little 15" TV in my studio apt.
UPN then released Star Trek: #DeepSpaceNine in '93 & I didn't rly care for it. It just wasn't TOS or TNG.
#StarTrek: #Voyager was released in '95 & I loved it & remember it fondly as the show I watched when I moved to Los Angeles.
It's 30yrs later now & oddly, I've found myself rly appreciating #DS9 & rewatching it more than any of the other series.
It gives me the most feels. 😁
