One, I missed that they released this. Two, I can't wait for you all to see the new season, so I'm going to pretend like I'm showing this myself. :)
There's a trope in modern #StarTrek shows that replicated food is inferior to naturally grown food, and that growing and cooking food yourself results in better flavor. I really dislike this idea, because it makes no sense and is inconsistent with other aspects of UFP life.
For one thing, if a replicator *replicates* food by recreating matter from a transporter pattern, how could the replicated food be inferior to the original food the pattern was copied from? It should be identical to the original item, just as when a person uses a matter transporter, they arrive as the exact same configuration of matter, down to the quantum level. If the molecules that make up food flavors didn't replicate without degredation, transporting would kill you. Flavor molecules are also important nutrients - that's why we can taste them, so we can recognize them and want to eat them because they are delicious. Evolution is cool that way. And similarly, if replicated food doesn't taste right, it's probably not supplying required nutrients and people will end up with problems from malnutrition. So even if replicators work from a template recipe instead of a transporter pattern, it's still an issue.
And another thing, if natural food is better than replicated food, then the whole idea of the Federation as a post-scarcity society falls apart. If some food is better than other food, and the supply of that food is inherently limited, then you'll eventually get some kind of economic system based on that scarcity. Either that or you have a two-tier society where some people get to enjoy natural foods while others are stuck eating bland, recycled excrement.
I really wish the writers could come up with better tropes to make whatever points they are trying to make with this inferior replicated food nonsense. The UFP is either post-scarity, or it's a lie. Stop messing with the foundations of Federation society just to make story elements feel more familiar!
In 2020, I fell in love with #StarTrekLowerDecks when it featured 4-legged Ariolo (a background species from "Star Trek IV"↙️⬇️, fleshed out in FASA's #StarTrek IV sourcebook ⬆️) in "Envoys"↖️. Now, in "The New Next Generation"➡️ , we get a speaking Ariolo - the show has wonderfully come full circle! :-)

According to Pop Culture Jeopardy #HollyHunter will play the Chancellor of #StarfleetAcademy I knew she'd be in it but now I've learned who she will play. Yaay! Cant wait! #StarTrek
Here are all the re-uses of the Angel I matte painting:
1. Angel I, #StarTrekTNG's "Angel One"
2. Starbase 515, "Samaritan Snare"
3. Malcor III, "First Contact"⬅️ ; Krios, "The Mind's Eye"➡️
4. Klaestron IV, #StarTrekDS9's "Dax"
5. Banea, #StarTrek VOY's "Ex Post Facto".
The official region-free Star Trek Section 31 trailer and poster are out. This trailer looking much more polished (unsurprisingly) than the teaser released previously.
Georgiou’s space station looks marvellous! Not at all in the classic Starfleet mushroom style. Original, not just another ring or cylinder. Like the DS9 design, something to give station model lovers something to dream of adding to their collections for the next few decades.
@virtualbri assuming you and your team were on this project too. It looks incredible! Sets a high bar for Star Trek streaming original movies.

Jack Quaid (Boimler from Star Trek: Lower Decks) and Mike from Red Letter Media sit down and review one of the best Star Trek films, Galaxy Quest.
Hey folks, I don't remember if I mentioned I'm helping with corralling art for the 2026 "Ships of the Line" calendar for Star Trek.
I think it's turning out pretty nice. A lot of really great contributors, some old and some new.
I still need someone to explain the episode title to me 😅
I just watched the latest episode of #StarTrekLowerDecks "Fully Dilated" im my Freistunde (planning period) and now I'll have to explain to my students why I'm all teary-eyed. 🥲 I'll just say I watched a wonderful episode of #StarTrek - they know me well enough, they'll understand! :-)
Season 4 of #StarTrekVOY will always have a very special place in my heart. It aired on German TV from Oct 1998 to May 1999, my favourite seasons. We started our weekly #StarTrek nights then, the ST Fact Files were first released in February, "Star Trek: Insurrection" was in cinemas and I got "Tomb Raider I and III" for Christmas. It was my last year of school and we went to Dorum again. It was awesome!
Watching #StarTrekVOY's "Prey" in honor of the late great Tony Todd. It's amazing how his voice and acting skills come across through all that make-up from the very first scene. This is true for all of his #StarTrek appearances. He will be deeply missed! 😔
According to Marc Okrand's Klingon Dictionary, qoH is the Klingon word for "fool". #StarTrekLowerDecks' "A Farewell to Farms" is the first time the word is spoken in a #StarTrek episode or film. 👌
Today is the 16th birthday of my best friends' autistic son, which means we're going to watch #StarTrekTNG's "Parallels", like every year on his birthday. He's been talking about this for months now, I'm looking forward to being with my #StarTrek friends tonight! 🖖 😀
After Mariner coined the term "boob window" in #StarTrekLowerDecks' "A Farewell to Farms"↖️↗️, I thought I'd remind you of the very first Klingon boob windows ever seen on #StarTrek: in #StarTrekTNG's "Redemption I"⬇️, of course "worn" by Lursa and B'Etor!
So proud of the #StarTrek family out there campaigning for Harris/Walz.
Makes me happy to do my little part for both.
The nanite clump in #StarTrekLowerDecks' "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel"↖️↗️ is not the first time an icosahedron (20-sided, all are triangles) has been seen on #StarTrek. Zora's dreams in "...But To Connect"↘️ also appear in an icosahedron and we see a Klingon D20 die in "The Least Dangerous Game"↙️.
I had no idea that the research I did on polyhedra on #StarTrek a few years ago would come in handy for the latest #StarTrekLowerDecks episode "The Best Exotic Nanite Hotel". -)
Big thanks to everbody who reminded me that there are (at least) two more #StarTrek episodes with a ship's wheel, namely #StarTrekVoyager's "Barge of the Dead" and #StarTrekProdigy's "Ghost in the Machine"! Can somebody please create the #MemoryAlpha page now? 😅
Here's a collage of all the times we've seen ship's wheels on #StarTrek:
#StarTrekLowerDecks' "Shades of Green"↖️↗️, "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier"⬅️, "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country"➡️, "Star Trek: Generations"↙️, #StarTrekSNW' "The Serene Squall"↘️.
If I ever get hired onto the VFX team of a #StarTrek property, I hereby pledge that I shall make it my secret mission to contrive to put the Beatles' yellow submarine from Yellow Submarine into a space shot.
Paramount Plus has just put up the Season 5 premiere on its YouTube channel. For all you international folks, I'm assuming it's probably geoblocked.

I feel like this is every day of I don't know how long now, and eventually we wont get away by the skin of our teeth, even at great cost.
Behold yet another example of Paramount's merch failings: the $50 hoodie where it looks like the Enterprise is beaming up a Klan hood.

I often say that "#StarTrek makes me smile, makes me cry but most of all makes me think". We watched #StarTrekTNG's "Darmok" and "The Next Phase" tonight, on my 30th Trekkie anniversary, so I leave these two images with you. No crying tonight! :-)
Everything ready for tonight's #StarTrek anniversary celebrations. -)
In early 2009, I was wondering when the moment would come when the part of my life before becoming a Trekkie on Oct 20th '94 (5314 days) would be surpassed in length by my time as a Trekkie. That exact day came May 7th 2009 - the day the new Kelvin #StarTrek film was released...🤯
On October 20th 1994, a Thursday, I sat down and watched an episode of #StarTrek ("Balance of Terror") like many times before. But on that day, I did not just watch but I took notes. It's the day I became a Trekkie and I celebrate the day every year. Here's to 30 more years! 🖖
There is some great guest casting in Season 3 of Strange New Worlds. Can't wait for you to see them.
Rhys is a hoot!
I'm sure you have heard about the seven recently discovered species of Madagascan tree frogs, named after the Captains on live-action #StarTrek shows. Here's the full article with photos of the frogs and countless details! Be still, my biology teacher heart! 😍

I love when an alien emblem appears on #StarTrek, like the one created for the Ventaxians in #StarTrekTNG's "Devil's Due". But it is especially cool when different departments incorporate the emblem. Here it is seen on colourful windows, as a floor mosaic and on tapestries. :-)
I love this big console that appeared numerous times on #StarTrek and other Sci-Fi shows! I'm wondering about its current whereabouts!
"Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"↖️, #StarTrekTNG's "Datalore"↗️, "A Matter of Perspective"⬅️➡️, "Devil's Due"↙️ ↘️.
Today will be my final #StarTrek tea cup research post (for now). In a strange coincidence, we're watching "Star Trek VI" today for my "Redemption I+II" research (VI was filmed in between the two episodes). My best friends' autistic son loves the "Teetasse kaputt" scene so much!😊
My bottle of Aldebaran Whiskey (Spirit) arrived just in time for my 30th #StarTrek anniversary on Sunday! :-) I love how they tried to make the bottle as close as possible to the original one from #StarTrekTNG's "Relics", including the number 5344! :-)

Talking to my son about Sci-Fi UX design, and I'd say the major shift from plausible designs like Mike Okuda made, to what we have now with holos and the like is that the function to the show is totally different.
Where they'd be business for actors to look like they were doing the thing, they are now 3-5 second mini movies explaining story points. So you get designs made for the streaming viewer, not for the character operating things.
#StarTrek research never ends: I found four more appearances of Janeway and the black Bodum cup on #StarTrekVOY. She's drinking from it when she gives Harry Kim the "Those Old Scientist" speech in "Flashback"! Six appearances - second place after Picard! 😁
https://www.masterreplicas.com/products/the-picard-tea-cup-set
Sometimes tea cups that look like Bodum cups but aren't do appear on #StarTrek: This cup, which is seen in #StarTrekVOY's "The Chute", is a Viva Italia Inspiration Cappuccino/Espresso cup.
So far, we've seen Bodum tea cups with three different kinds of handles on #StarTrek: Rectangular Bodum Bistro handles ↖️↗️, semi-circular Bodum Bistro Nouveau handles ⬅️➡️ and those oval white handles on #StarTrekTNG ↙️↘️. I cannot find any link between these cups and Bodum. 1/2
The music instruments that T'Lyn plays in the #StarTrekLowerDecks season 5 trailer ↖️↗️ originally appeared in the Café des Artistes in #StarTrekTNG's "We'll Always Have Paris"↙️↘️. There are many obscure music instruments on #StarTrek but, kudos LD, this one wins the prize! :-)
Two sizes of Alessi MG cups are seen in some episodes of #StarTrek. The smaller espresso cups are only seen in #StarTrekTNG's "Timescape"⬅️ and the larger mugs are regularly seen on #StarTrekDS9 for Tarkalean tea ("Things Past"↗️) and #StarTrekVOY ("The Voyager Conspiracy"➡️).
#StarTrek is on my brain today, so let's choose some #Halloween #horror films that include unexpected Trek alumni. When I first saw Lifeforce, I was young and living at home. My mom walked in and saw a naked woman casually strolling onscreen.
"DENNIS! Our son is watching a naked woman!”
It must've gotten their hopes up so high. But sometimes a horror film is just a horror film.
There's a lot of talent on these credits. Tobe Hooper (Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist) directs…

In my analysis of #StarTrek teasets, once I start rambling about "Royal Doulton with hand painted periwinkles", please do stop me! ;-)
Wow, Bernd has created completely new size charts for the starships and shuttles seen in the animated #StarTrek series #StarTrekTAS, #StarTrekLowerDecks and #StarTrekProdigy. Check them out! 👌👌

Oh hay, did I mention Liz Kloczkowski is working on a book about building the Enterprise-D bridge?
You should ask Paramount to get on publishing it :)
Many different alien gavels have appeared on #StarTrek over the course of several decades:
A K'Tuveon gavel in "Veritas"↖️, Klingon ones in "Star Trek VI"↗️ and "Judgement"⬅️, a Ventaxian one in "Devil's Due"➡️, A Bajoran one in "Dax"↙️ and a Cardassian one in "Tribunal"↘️.
The same radar prop was seen in at least three episodes of #StarTrek. It appears on Velara III in #StarTrekTNG's "Home Soil"⬆️, was adorned with Starfleet deltas for "Devil's Due"➡️ and appears many years later on an alien planet in #StarTrekVOY's "Friendship One"⬇️.
Only one more month until I will be celebrating my 30th anniversary as a Trekkie on October 20th. If I could tell that 14-year-old boy what role #StarTrek would play in his life from that day onwards! Taking notes while watching Star Trek - best decision ever! :-)
Some Star Trek art for Trek Tuesday.
Enjoy.

Watching #DoctorWho season 1 episodes on Blu-ray on Sundays with my friends - and of course there's a #StarTrek reference in the episode ("The Empty Child") we're watching tonight... ha!
Happy #StarTrekDay! :-)
Still plenty of attic shelf space left for new #StarTrek starship models by @FanhomeUS coming this fall! :-) The attic remodeling was partly motivated by needing new space for more #Eaglemoss starship models, after all! Happy #StarTrekDay! :-)
I got one this year!! :-)

The very prominent Sanctuary Processing Center entrance, seen several times in #StarTrekDS9's "Past Tense I+II"↖️↗️ was also seen in other #StarTrek episodes, namely in "Emergence"⬅️➡️, #StarTrekVOY's "11:59"↙️ and #StarTrekENT's "Storm Front I"↘️.
Spent the day doing #StarTrek research, particularly on #StarTrekDS9's "Past Tense" and Livingston, playing #StarWarsOutlaws for the first time, watching a 3-hour #RingsOfPower season 1 recap and then watching the first episode of season 2. It was a wonderful day! 👌👌
To sum up: there are three very similar models, all built by Greg Jein. One is the actual model of Jaheel's, appearing in #StarTrekDS9's "Babel". The other two models look very similar but were never actually seen on #StarTrek. More

It's Friday, August 30th 2024 - which means there's a certain two-parter we're going to watch tonight on #StarTrek night for sure!
Watching #DoctorWho's "Pyramids of Mars" and boy does Sutekh's voice remind me of Jeffrey Combs...in any of his #StarTrek roles...😅
