I can’t be certain if this is my main or my alt account, but you’re here and I’m here, so, hello!

I’m a and a lover of (most of my “hobby time” is spent working on various bits of server software with a recent heavy lean towards ).

This account resides on an instance of (an ActivityPub server software) running on .

Also, I’m a lifelong, massive, fan. I love it all, I don’t hate on any Trek, it’s all good. Especially the bad.

@BeAware@social.beaware.live To be blunt, he was essentially bullied into abandoning the opt-out bridge concept. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@BeAware@social.beaware.live It’s pretty strange, generally the fediverse feels pretty accepting and open to new ideas, but when it comes to federation beyond ActivityPub (a by-design federated protocol, ha!), not so much.

@jrollans facts. That's why I'm hoping threads fully federates someday. It doesn't seem likely, but a man can always dream.😂

          Regarding:
"Bridgy Fed was originally supposed to be opt-out, but so many people on ActivityPub based networks went bonkers with the notion that it somehow infringed on their privacy"

I wonder what percentage of people on the Fediverse they are.

          0.0000001%?

          0.000001%?

Because, I suspect they are not the majority.

I suspect they are an extreme minority whose preference seems hostile to the vast majority of people on the Fediverse.

I suspect the vast majority of people on the Fediverse — when they see something like Bridgy Fed, or searchtodon, or Fedicate, or FediOnFire, etc — either think something like "Oh, cool!" or are indifferent.

Should everyone else on the Fediverse suffer because of an intolerant (extreme) minority?

@reiver@mastodon.social @BeAware@social.beaware.live @jrollans@jrollans.com I'm thinking more and more about starting something like Fediblock but just with the Mastodon Taliban in it.

I was thinking that, developers could automatically opt- them out of anything.

(Which I suppose act sort of like a "block". Although they could opt-in if they choose.)

And leave it opt-out for everyone else.
