As I expected, Monster Hunter Wilds is a great game, as a fan of the series I was really looking forward to it! Unfortunately it launched with a bunch of performance problems on PC so I avoided it for a while, but I can happily report that it runs at a capped 30fps on the PlayStation 5 just fine. The action is a bit more polished than in Rise, my favourite game in the series...this one might just take it's place!

Hexara (PC) Hey so if you're old enough to have any kind of fond memories of the game Hexic on the 360, this is basically an exact clone of it available on Steam. It's got the same exact gameplay without straight up stealing the assets. Also the dev responded to my (and another) review mentioning repetitive music by patching in more tracks of chillout tunes, bonus. Was an easy 1st day buy, and cheap. The port uses the “hires” mode of the Apple II for the flashy graphics that were state of the art around 1980 or so. It’s not a copy of the full game – only the first and last levels, combined with Jonathan Coulton’s now-classic ending theme, Still Alive. As is to be expected, it’s not a wild, fast paced gaming experience, but a cool use of BASIC to put together a fun tribute to a popular franchise."

Build completed. The Lian-Li A3-mATX case is a bit larger than expected, but it kinda had to be with respect to the 360mm AIO that's mounted in it. Had to abandon top-mounting the AIO because the radiator was too thick, but managed to get everything installed and managed.

my server had been down for like 5 days now. Now im stuck on this stupid place and don't even have acces to my nas. Then I found out I spend the last day and a half copying the wrong drive with ddrescue. Im soo done with this shit. I have decade old hard drives but ask a ssd to do more then 3 years hell no. I want a server that could run forever if electricity is provided. Ssds make it impossible. 3 months of 15 vms that probably didn't even do 500gb per day in total killed a drive that supposed to have a rw capacity of 2400 tb. Also I hate bluesky with its stupid twitter like post limit of 500. My mastodon had a limit of 65536. You could write a small book with that. And now that I have to copy shit with ddrescue again but instead of getting the same or better performance since its a ssd copying to a USB harddrive compared to a USB harddrive to the same USB harddrive its 30 times slower at peak. And that USB harddrive is 1tb bigger. now some might say just use the last backup. Well to even acces ir i need a vm on that ssd because nobody plans that ssd especially one from a reputable brand like samsung dies after 4 months of use. Even if mine was rather extreme compared to the usual use of one of them. it's ridiculousthat only 50 bad sectors and a passed smart test causes all the data to be inaccessible. Also the expectationthat I have backups that can survivea nuke is unrealistic. If i had the money i wouldn't use decade old hardware. Now you might say just play video games on your gaming pc. Well i don't have one, all my desktops are on my server and the only other computer that could game properly is copying the drive. I pirated gamesI alreadyown on a laptop for just to play some shitty DM for a dozen mins. This thread is probablybecoming longer then any serious post I made on the fediverse. Anyways now that i dont have a ssd for vms ig i gotta use a dozen decade old hard drives from the discard pile of a graphics design studio since im broke and you cant run multiple windows on a single harddrive cause that shit fucking lagggs. Im so done with this shit, i can even torture myself by editing long overdue videos and ive watched so many video essays that I can't watch anymore. I might just start looking on ebay for like epyc Rome shit or something. HAHA I GOT IT TO COPY AT 135MB/s. So now it's done at 0000... great. STILL BETTER THEN 10 DAYS HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHS OR THE PREVIOUS DAY AND THEN SOME ONTOP JAHAHHAHAHSHSHDHDHHDJDJFHDJDJDJDHHFJDJDJDHDJJFHDHDHFHNFJFNJDJFKFJFJDJDHFH it wasn't done, ddrescuetime calc sucks ass like it's not gonna be like 12 hours instead of 8... all the copying was fine no errors ddrescue didn't see any faulty sectors and yet all my data is shot. I can't boot truenas nor can I extract the config of it.

The Art of Reflection (PC) What if you could pass through the mirror to solve the puzzles?
So this game is more or less Portal but remove the portal gun and add mirrors. No "story" or narration to explain why you're in this maze floating in space, or why you're tasked with solving puzzles in it in order to get to cylinders that have musical instrument symbols on them. Once you collect them, you can return to the hub of the current section you're working on and place them into a large music box type device. Find them all and complete the symphony.
While there's no story as such, there's still world building as the maze slowly gets created by you solving the puzzles. Each section you go into is isolated until you get the music cylinder, after which the entire maze returns to view (in a pretty cool looking reverse shattered glass effect). You're also building the background music with each cylinder returned to the hub, as well as "painting" in the maze as you traverse through it (the walls etc are all gray until you walk through after which they change to red, purple etc).
Took me about 15 hours to roll credits (thankfully you don't have to find ALL the cylinders to unlock the final stage) but because I like thinky pain I took another 3 hours to figure out how to retrieve the last 6 cylinders.
If you enjoyed Portal, The Witness and all the rest like them, you should already have this one on your wishlist or in the library, lol. It's quite an enjoyable headache game.
