Many months ago, I was trying to mod Borderlands 2 on Linux.
It has been made easier with Steam Deck as most mod mangers offer Linux builds.

I wish there was an all-in-one GUI software which handled mods for games. It would assist in installing mods for all kinds of games like how Minecraft’s third party launchers do.

The Talos Principle 2 (Multi, XPd on a Linux OS PC) As 1k, the newest (and perhaps last) member of the reborn humanity, you set off on an expedition to explore a Mega Structure on a remote island. What you find could alter humanity's course forever.

So, (spoilers) as a direct sequel to the now 11yr old 1st game, you play as a new "human" that has left the Simulation and been incorporated into a body in the Real World. As human number 1000, you are the culmination of "The Goal" that "The Founder", Athena (the char you play in the first game) has set for Humanity. Or did she?

If you liked Portal, The Messenger, etc, you should play these games. They are excellently crafted. TP2 greatly expands on the scope
both in the environment you explore and the puzzles you must solve. Very brain hurty in a good way.

There is a ton of lore to discover in each area and it's great fun to go exploring off track to find it. The various sections of the island you explore are vastly different climes and each has new puzzle variations and extras. The interactions with your fellow "Humans" are all well written, enough that I actually found myself annoyed at some of the NPCs because of their scare tactic language, trying to stop you from exploring, finding answers, etc. On the flip side, some of the characters are very endearing.

The game is very pretty in the "old school bespoke assets" way, so expect to find a few graphical errors here and there 😉 The music is good, tho it can get repetitive. Mechanics feel good.

On the tech side, the game ran great on my Linux OS. I didn't notice much lag, any game ending glitches, etc. Also had no issues with my KK3 Max controller.

This was a great experience, one I don't think any puzzle minded gamers should skip or miss. Definitely do recommend. 👍 👍

Trying to get Dawn of War II to work with multiplayer co-op on Linux using the GOG version is an insane process. The closest I can get is having Galaxy services connected in game, but no way to get the overlay to work and show me invites from friends (and no ability to invite friends for same reason)

I think it is the world building that appeals. I only ever played Vampire: The Masquerade once, 25 years ago, but I have read and enjoyed most of the old White Wolf sourcebooks. Never played Warhammer 40K, but read probably 20+ game publications. Read through all the Planescape boxed sets multiple times - great art and writing for RPG manuals!

So I'm playing Darkest Dungeon 1. Love the art, the narration, the story, but because I'm a casual gamer I can't beat it without cheating (mods.) Last night I decided to play the entire game with the first 4 people you start with (I'm cheating btw) and discovered that when you enter the Darkest Dungeon level, sometimes the party won't go back. I literally had to stop the game there. Now I'm back to playing without mods, and on week 3 and 5 already in the graveyard.

Wenig überraschend habe ich mit #Linux / #CachyOS keine Probleme beim #Sacred2Remaster auf die Bildrate des Bildschirms zu kommen, anders als bei #Windows, wo ich nur etwa die Hälfte der FPS habe, wenn überhaupt.

Ich kann nur komischerweise nicht mit den typischen Umgebungsvariablen die Framerate begrenzen. Heißt also weder mit VKD3D_FRAME_RATE, DXVK_FRAME_RATE noch mit strangle.

Wenn ein Spiel Zugriff auf den Kernel meines Betriebssystems haben will, um angeblich gegen Cheater vorzugehen, dann will ich es erst gar nicht spielen. Denn letztlich ist es ein aufgezwungenes #Rootkit, dass gegen Cheater überhaupt nichts unternimmt, sondern dich quasi nur abhört.

Klar kann man sich darüber aufregen, dass die Hardware von #Valve nicht Bleeding Edge ist, das war aber auch nie das Ziel von Valve. Sie wollen bezahlbares #Gaming und kein Luxusprodukt, wie jetzt #Microsoft mit der #XboxNext.

Ich bin ja immer noch erstaunt, was das #SteamDeck trotz der eher schwachen Hardware noch leisten kann. Ich benutze mein Deck sogar öfters als meine #Switch2, denn im Grunde ist das ein 500 € Staubfänger, auf dem ich ab und an etwas Super Mario Galaxy spiele.

Sicher habe ich mir für die #SteamMachine auch lieber 32 GB RAM und 16 GB VRAM gewünscht, aber wenn ich sehe was für ein Optimierungswahn die Community auf dem Deck hat, scheint die Hälfte davon auch kein Problem darzustellen.

Ich denke, über den #SteamController und dem #SteamFrame muss man nicht viel sagen, denn die werden der Oberhammer.

Auf die Preise bin ich ja eher gespannt und hoffe, dass die nicht so hoch sind, weil sich Valve mit dem #Steam Store eh dumm und dämlich verdient.

What’s stopping game developers enabling anticheat support for Linux? Anticheats (ex. EAC) already have native Linux support.

Is it because the developer are lazy? I doubt that’s the case because what i’ve heard is that it’s just one-click process to enable Linux support.

Is it because devs think that users on Linux are more likely going to cheat? Doubt that, because who would go as far as installing Linux just to cheat on a game?

I don't care at all about how that game uses AI, but someone please refer me to a review outlet that will take the same principled stance and trash a game in its review for being always-online and denying you proper ownership.
