The whelping box my puppies are in is right next to my arcade machine. Had The Simpsons in attract mode running. The demo gets to Bart and Lisa doing their tag team screaming move and all the puppies including the older dogs all did the craziest head tilts.

(I sometimes like to power on my arcade machine at leave the attract mode running just to see and hear it around me. Gives me fuzzy feelings of all the time I spent as a literal child without money in arcades.)

A lot of people don't even know tag team moves exist in The Simpsons.

I created my YouTube channel as a dedicated home for my sim-racing content, specifically my POV footage from our Wednesday night league races. It complements the official league's Twitch broadcast by giving viewers a driver’s-eye perspective and a deeper look into the racecraft, strategy, and moments that don’t always make the main stream.

I’m also building the channel as a way to attract potential sponsors for both myself and the team, as well as another outlet to promote our team goals and supported causes. Indie social platforms like Mastodon haven’t been taken seriously by companies looking for established reach, and YouTube is the lesser evil option that I feel the most comfortable with using. Growing a presence there gives me a better chance of showing sponsors real engagement and a clear value proposition, alongside promoting veganism.

I'm still in the early stages of getting this rolling, but the core is there. I just need to work on fixing up the fancy bits and my inability to multitask.

The first official stream will be this Wednesday night.

I love the atmosphere and music. It also has several quality of life improvements to standard game mechanics. Magic has a Light and Heavy cast which can do different things. For example, a heavy cast might summon a creature while a light cast tells your summons who to attack. When interacting with merchants, you can sell directly from your stash without having to carry it all around.

Yeah! Screw you, Emily. This was actually pretty cathartic. I got the self-respecting good ending. I didn't let Emily string me along and mess with my heart. I kept the boundaries from the beginning and didn't let her cross them. This is the only way to win. Whatever choices you make, she always leads you on then ditches you for the abusive Brad/Travis anyway. So the best ending is to shut her down from the start. Now if only I had the benefit of hindsight in real life!

Emily sucks, but the game itself is good.
I might buy the sequels if they go on offer.

Tinkering with some #VR gaming and was able to get it working with my #Debian mini PC by just pulling an updated version of mesa from the stable backports repo. But, it didn't work on #ChimeraOS, which hasn't seen an update since last June. So I've converted the new #gaming PC to #Bazzite and streaming VR games wirelessly to my Meta Quest 2 headset with the Steam Link app seems to work fine. It's a little flaky at times, but seems to work best in desktop mode.

MUSHclient soundpack import -- Import MUSHclient soundpack folders directly into Mudpie. Scans for .mcl world files, .xml plugins, .lua scripts, and sounds. Converts triggers, aliases, keybindings, variables, and Lua scripts with static API mapping plus optional AI-assisted conversion for complex scripts.

Warning: The MUSHclient importer is brand new and should be considered experimental. Expect bugs, especially with complex soundpacks. Please report issues!

Plus: session switching shortcuts changed to Ctrl+PageDown/PageUp, punctuation passthrough for more natural TTS, battery optimizations (proper reconnect backoff, lower sensor polling, lazy TTS init), and many bug fixes.

Just completed "The Excavation of Hob's Barrow" - a horror point and click developed by Cloak and Dagger Games, publisher: Wadjet Eye Games. Set in the 19th century, a young scientist tries to solve a mistery in rural north England. Great graphics and interesting story, feels polished. Good average puzzle difficulty, I never got stuck or frustrated (12.7h). I liked it, despite its being a bit grim in parts.

I should start another “Midnight Suns” run, because that was a fantastic game that is really hard to explain and was marketed all wrong. It’s one of my absolute favourite games and I had it sit in my library for so long because the trailer and cover blurb didn’t tell me a thing about what the game actually is. And, honestly, I am not sure how to correctly do this either without making it sound like a convoluted mess. It is amazing design that they made this work.

Sorry to be a downer, but I've got to be honest now. #Screamer will likely be a great game, but it's DOA because Milestone refuse to promote their games, so no-one will know it even exists.

Their last post was on January 26th when the game is out in five days - their last video four days earlier got 555k views!

They just don't give a fuck what happens with their own games for some reason.

Along with they've already said they don't plan to add any post-launch content, it's going to be a ghost town in days.

I've already turned off the auto-download and although I probably won't, I'm thinking of cancelling the pre-order. No doubt I'm to blame having bought into the hype by doing that.

Yeah... I got Windows NT 4.0 running with Service Pack 6a incl. drivers and all the latest updates from 1999 and even managed to install a few games: Windows Entertainment Pack, SimCity Classic and Age of Empires II. This is quite nice! Although I remember from back in the day that NT 4.0 only supported a very limited selection of games. That's why I always used it as part of a dual-boot setup with Windows 9x.

Well, this week has so far involved a seizure from Jarrah (he missed a dose of his medication, which doesn't bode well for reducing it over the next month, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it), a night of digestive issues for me, and a call from Dad late this afternoon, who thankfully didn't need the hospital this time (probably just dehydrated and low blood sugar; I went over and made him a cuppa and a sandwich).

It's Tuesday. Wtf. I'm putting in an order for less drama for the rest of the week please.

However! Good things are happening all the same:

+ Kid4 has been playing Diablo 2 and loving it and keeps asking me stuff and last night we had a chat about some things (waypoints and identifying items) and he said, 'It's so great to be finally playing a game that I can talk to you about!' (because I play few games, but Diablo 2 is one of my very faves)

+ we have a hot day forecast tomorrow but after that, hopefully it'll be into cooler weather

+ the kitchen stayed clean until the weekend! I say 'stayed clean' – I mean, I kept it clean. Obviously it's a bit messy now given the last couple of days but I feel like it's not overwhelming. Also, the fam is helping with this – yay for a virtuous circle

+ fit in a good trumpet practice before Dad called. I missed so many days last week and I really noticed the difference in my lesson

+ I ordered a record for my birthday soon and it arrived and I'm so delighted 🥰

I was able to get a slew of retired machines from work (giant towers no one wanted) and I am going to do a home lab project where I'm testing #gaming on a variety of #linux distros.

I plan to take notes and do a write up. So far I'm going to test on:

• Pop OS
• Mint
• Ubuntu
• Kali (just because I can)

Testing straight Linux installs, and through stores, eithe r directly with Steam or through Heroic // Lutrix // miniGalaxy for older installs, GOG, Epic, etc. Also some DweebDOS for the really old ones.

Are there any other distros I should test?

This is part of a larger personal project on helping friends and family remove themselves from the Person as Product ecosystem.

May turn it into a conference talk.
