So... in the end, I switched to the iPhone as my primary device after already having to use it as a secondary device alongside my Pixel 9 with GrapheneOS.
Before you stone me, let me say first and foremost that I love GrapheneOS and its almost perfect privacy features! But certain circumstances made a switch more or less necessary.
On the one hand, I don't want to constantly carry around two smartphones – especially when I don't want to lug around an extra backpack, wallet, and/or other bags, but just my keys and phone. Then there's the issue of two phone numbers.
On the other hand, I use “ID Austria,” Austria's digital government service (they can only dream of such technical achievements in Germany, muahaha!), and like my banking, it doesn't work, or only works poorly, without Play Services installed. The same goes for digital tickets for public transportation.
And finally, there's the logging of my health data with Apple Watch, as I have a heart condition, among other things, and Apple Health records all these values very well and perfectly prepares and presents all the relevant data for my doctors. In the end, my health is a little more important to me than data protection. At least I can convince myself that Apple is a little better and more trustworthy here than the data octopus Google.
And: the symbiosis between Linux and Apple now works very well. The iCloud calendar can be easily integrated into GNOME or KDE calendars, and that's what my entire daily organization revolves around. That was the most important point for me. And with Localsend, I have a perfect Airdrop alternative for data exchange, and Nextcloud also works smoothly on both platforms. So, apart from my health, I'm currently more than satisfied with how things are going!

Runterfahren #tech-adhs
Ich nehme mein Dienstlaptop gern am Wochenende mit heim, um mir vorzunehmen zu arbeiten – was ich sehr selten tue, eigentlich nur wenn es um Access geht, was ich in meiner Mac-Welt nicht so habe. Früher aber vor allem, um weniger umständlich auf dienstliche Emails zuzugreifen und auf die Kommunikation mit dem KM.
Sehr gerne vergesse ich es auch daheim am Montag, so wie jetzt wieder. Bisher habe ich dann irgendwo einen Laptop besorgt, angeschlossen, aber das Einrichten dauerte zu lang. Diesmal habe ich drauf verzichtet und einfach das iPad auf den Tisch gestellt und den Tag damit bestritten. Das ging. Und reichte auch. In den Tagen danach, habe ich mehr versucht mit dem iPad zu arbeiten und der Vorteil war vor allem, dass ich weniger abgelenkt war.
Noch weniger Ablenkung aber, wenn ich mit der Hand schreibe – aber dazu irgendwann mehr.
Ich fahre runter.
Apple und #ididit
Ich habe außerdem ein bisschen eine Rolle rückwärts gemacht, ich Verräter, und dann doch wieder den iMac, bzw, jetzt ein MacBook, auf den Schreibtisch gestellt. Dies vor allem, weil ich doch drauf eingespielt bin und die mickrig wenigen Workflows bei mir über MacOS und ein paar der dortigen Apps laufen. Alles andere kostet mir zu viel Zeit – aktuell, wo unverhältnismäßig viel los ist.
In dem Zusammenhang greife ich auch wieder auf Evernote zurück, was ich vor einigen Jahren aus den Augen verloren habe, weil es auf meinen Geräten plötzlich eine wahnsinnige Schwerfälligkeit entwickelte. Das ist aktuell anders, dafür ist der Preis in die Höhe geschossen. Aber davon auch irgendwann mehr.
Was noch läuft – oder auch nicht
- Paperless auf dem Raspberry Pi 5
- Pi-Hole auf demselbigen Raspbi
- Immich…bekomme ich nicht mehr zum Laufen auf dem Rasbpi, auch nach mehrmaligen Neuinstallationen, ich müsste wohl das ganze Ding plattmachen oder mir doch eine containerfähige NAS zu Weihnachten wünschen
Es läuft noch mein Nextcloud über Hetzner, vor allem auch um Daten und Dateien auszutauschen.
Unterm Strich
Ich bin 2008 auf Apple umgestiegen, auch weil ich nicht mehr so viel Administrator meiner eigenen Rechner sein wollte. Wie gesagt: Mir fehlt aktuell die Zeit.

- Zusammenarbeit mit Linux und iPhone etc ist eher schwer bis umständlich
Bestes Zitat: „(Linux) Zu empfehlen: Allen, die ihre wohlige Selbstzufriedenheit und moralische Überlegenheit nicht aus anderen Quellen schöpfen können.“
Geht mir auch so, wenn ich mein HP-Linux-Mint-Laptop raushole und ein wenig dran arbeite. Ab und an streichle ich mein iPad, dann kommen auch ganz ordentliche Gefühle raus.

Idea for #Apple and #Google: Include a setting for their #AI to give photos meaningful file names. Because I'm tired of trying to differentiate between 5187923061456387928_121.jpg and 5892706374823612537_353.jpg.

@desirable_dialogue I just wrote about this, although not created by the tor community there is an early development browser with an independent web engine called Ladybird Browser, the lead dev believes in white genocide and supports dhh (see links below) but this is the only other web engine I know of other than chromium and firefox and the apple one maybe it can be forked.
Like I say in the link maybe the solution is to write websites for a simpler protocol than Http at this point like Gemini or Gopher or to just use a reduced html featureset so as to be compliant with reduced html featureset browsers that are more realistic to maintain without capitalist investment

Might this be because the current iteration or version of #Siri SUCKS ASS?
Half the time when using either Apple Music or Spotify, Siri completely effs up my commands to play music — and not just in little, subtle ways. For example if I ask the smartphone AI to play "Oh My" by Issey Cross, Siri will instead repeatedly play something by Rihanna with a similar sounding track title.
Fact: #Apple has a long way to go in fixing their stuff so it runs more smoothly. Siri does not work that well for the present time.

The #UK government reportedly will “encourage” #Apple and #Google to prevent phones from displaying #nude images except when users verify that they are adults.
The forthcoming push for nudity-blocking systems was reported by the Financial Times today. The report said the UK won’t institute a legal requirement “for now.” But asking companies to block nude images could be the first step toward making it mandatory if the gov doesn’t get what it wants.
