I am moving from the Google ecosystem (referred to as Hell henceforth) to Apple (not quite heaven but close enough.)

The Hell app remembers my place and allows me to pickup reading posts from where I left denoted by the “view more” bar. This bar expands posts upward allowing me to continue erased oldest to newest.

Is there no such functionality in the iOS app? I’ve looked and looked but there is nothing. The app settings are rudimentary at best.

Reason: “Your app includes content or features from LG TVs, or is marketed to control external hardware from LG TVs, without the necessary authorization”

I included a chat with LG explaining I had express permission to control their TVs via their API.

I’m honestly at a loss with what to do now. I guess I don’t release it and it’s just an app for me. Incredibly frustrated and disheartened.

PS: Yes I am very tired of Reminders butchering Todos and then no longer updating due dates etc. If it wasn't so sad it would be highly hilarious.

The Workout App on watchOS 26 now reads out splits and other targets even if you are listening to music.
Previously it only did that if no audio was playing.
If you want to disable that, use the bell in the bottom right corner and then set splits or whatever to "none". Enjoy the silence again during your workouts.
As far as I can tell splits are still being logged.

It’s harder to use, and even less discoverable than before. The transparency is maddening. I can’t see the toolbars, and when I can it frequently looks like some of the content is part of the toolbar. Good luck explaining this to someone in their 60s and up.

Hot take: Apple will be forced to walk most if this back over the next couple of months.

Update to the update: Messages is now working on (AFAICT) all of my devices. However FaceTime only works on 50% of them. The other half won’t seem to let me sign into FaceTime w/my Apple ID.

People said iOS 26 won't be released as such a big mess when I questioned most of the design choices in the betas. But look, it's exactly as broken as it was before. Congrats, the mentality of taking something that worked and making it worse seems to be the theme now with all the big corporations.

Random note for folks running macOS devices for work. macOS 26 was just released and it is not safe to assume that your security tooling will work correctly. It's worth verifying this before trying to upgrade. In the past I've seen at least 2 different common security agents that took multiple weeks to become fully compatible with a major macOS release.

Memory tagging is one of the 1970s-era technologies (Lisp Machines) that used hardware to strengthen security. For decades Apple played their part in trying to bury that legacy by normalizing naive system architectures that emphasized speed and sensationalism above all else (except for the Apple IIgs, which was non-fast for the sake of being slow). 🙃

Also, their announcement is more about reversing the ground iOS has lost to its two main competitors in China, who now use microkernel architectures that are considered more secure than iOS (even if they are probably backdoored). Spent a few hours cleaning out the fridge on my M1 Mac Mini today. It’s now in an ok state and can resume its local server role. But man, there’s zero joy in using macOS anymore. Just paper cut after paper cut. Or should I say joy in using OS X? I guess that’s when it actually was nice to use. Even with the limitations, iOS feels less claustrophobic – perhaps because it never had the freedom to begin with, so you don’t run into all the restrictions in the same way. I got the Mac because it was a friendly face on *nix back in the 10.0.3 days. These days, though, the face looks more like the one in Apple’s 1984 ad. With the tech going into iPhones, how can iOS Contacts be so stupid. Copy/Paste an address in and you need to manually cut and paste all the parts to the correct field. Adding an email to a business entry and it defaults to home. Copy paste an email from a website and it keeps the mailto: portion. Even Wordpress is smarter than this app.

Am I doing it wrong? Is there a better contacts app that syncs with iCloud contacts?
