My old 2008 Mac Pro is back in service. I missed having a full desktop especially this one using the Apple Display HD 23" monitor. All early 2000's hardware.
Due to the old slow USB1 speeds, it would be painful to install Linux directly. (I tried before with Fedora) I installed it on an external drive and installed it into the Mac Pro.

Rapaz, como esperei por um app assim! Uso Linux e tenho um iPad Air (A1475) rodando iOS 12.5.
Até então, só conseguia transferir arquivos via Wi-Fi com um app chamado Phone Drive Pro que drenava a bateria e fazia o aparelho esquentar excessivamente.
Com esse iDescriptor, basta ligar o cabo e fim! Ele mostra as informações do aparelho, incluindo saúde da bateria. Também lista os apps instalados, permitindo navegar pelos arquivos de alguns deles. E é possível até mesmo abrir imagens e rodar vídeos que estão no aparelho.
Possui outras funções (ver abas superiores na imagem), mas verei com mais calma depois.

I always struggled w the #iPhone's default camera app due to its #ComputationalPhotography pipeline, which optimizes image quality but often produces flat and sometimes inconsistent results. Finally, I found a solution: the #NoFusion app. The app disables #Apple's multi-frame processing, yielding single-frame outputs with natural contrast and film-like characteristics closer to dedicated cameras. I use this machine for traveling, and it's indeed not a powerhouse but still does an OK job while I'm sitting on trains, buses or in-between.
As the current smallest MacBook is ~3cm wider and over 300g heavier than this one, I'd very much like to keep this as long as I can.

1) Fehlermeldung mit DT_CHAINTOOL etc. Recherche. Wegen Xcode 15 was anders. Suchen / ersetzen in div config Dateien (nicht mein Code sondern Framework Zeug) #flutter #xcode #apple #updatezwang
2) Zertifikat abgelaufen. Keine provisioning profiles gefunden. Also 2 neue Zertifikate erzeugt (DEV/Dist) und Profile erneuert bzw. angelegt.

3) Upload in App Store nur, wenn Xcode 16.4 oder höher verwendet wird! Tja. 16.4 will mindestens #macOS 15.3 haben. Ich habe Sonoma (14) also nach Download Xcode erstmal OS aktualisieren und beten, dass mein privates Arbeitsgerät dann noch alles tut (drucken z. B. I tried #Librepods on Manjaro desktop and (apart from compiling Rust code linux/rust PR branch, it’s pretty much plug-n-play.
Just needed to restart the GUI after connecting the Pro 3 to make changes.
Overall, great stuff!!

The product that I wish #apple would buy and bundle with every Mac more than any other is soundsource. It’s basically “if the sound preference menu bar dropdown actually had all the stuff you needed”. Every time I use a Mac without it, it’s jarring how annoying it is.

I was saddened last year to hear about #Apple having partnered with #Google to broaden Mac OS' capabilities to generate #AI slop. For years I've had Siri switched off on all devices, but when querying a folder noticed the option to "scan for duplicates with Gemini 2." Ugghh. Time to partition this old iMac's hard drive and install Linux. The desktop will speak more easily with the Linux laptop then too. #tech

Despite having switched off Siri, signs of AI invading are still baked into Mac OS. This screenshot shows the menu resulting from doing a "get info" on a desktop folder. The last option is "Scan for Duplicates with Gemini 2." That's a very hard NO.
I get what this is intended for, but that doesn't make it less creepy.
