It's like im on speed or something recently...
I've noticed ddr5 ram is really expensive right now....
And now I've learned that you can buy 3k oled portable monitors for relatively cheap atleast compared to DRAM...
Now that im in gnome Wayland using MPV video player i am starting to get a taste of HDR...
Non-HDR videos already look more 3D.
And I happen to have a video that played which i think was upconverted to 4k 60fps HDR back in 2022 and it looks really good in certain scenes despite being converted a long time ago and my display being an LCD from 2021/22.
I feel like buying UniFab. It is being sold right now for $299. It might go up im not sure... it says it is discounted.
It should be possible to make it work on my 3050 laptop GPU...
But it wants 8GB VRAM and a Windows system...
I dont have that...
What i can do is use Real Video Enhancer for now tho I hear it's bad...
That will atleast work on my laptop...

I could always go in with my dad on an rtx 3080 or something and put it in our shared PC... or buy it myself and put it in one of the workstations that I have parts sitting around for... its only $300 at most i think... and if its in a legitimate PC then it should work to pass it in to windows...

Basically im deciding that I may not need a new laptop...
I can stick to modifying my current one tho i don't know if I want to because it's already pretty beat up...
This laptop has issues with ports and stuff... I guess that can be fixed... I jammed the aux audio but I guess i could get a USB adaptor. And the thunderbolt port stopped charging my phone but I guess that can be addressed...

I can figure this out... its kinda janky.
I dont really feel like f*cking around with this laptop but I guess it could be worth it. Because if I bought a new laptop next year it would be close to $2k for the laptop alone and then it is get an eGPU that's another $700. Then SSD + hard drives are gonna cost another $600. And if I upgraded RAM right off the bat that's which I wouldn't initially but eventually might have to then thats another $400-$$1k. And I'd get another display which is $200-$400.

So there you are talking $4k almost depending on what I put off or decide i don't need.
Plus i probably need to have whatever 3D printed parts professionally made...

If I keep my current laptop then I just need to pay for the screen $300, hard drive $200, 3d printed enclosure, and I think thats it...

I could even making it really crude without a proper 3d printed scaffolding... that might be possible.

So this way I can spend $500 and put off buying $4000 worth of laptop that i may not need yet...
Thought I may want to upgrade the RAM on the current laptop to 32gb for $150.

I might wanna try to save my money here and not even dump anything extra on the current laptop..
Maybe wait an extra year to buy the new laptop... idk.
I'm afraid of dumping any significant amount of money onto my current laptop...
I kind of want a new one... I dont want to waste too much time and energy on my current one... tho it is good practice...

It might be smart to start now... also see how AI upscaling improves... it might not be fully mature...
