Das Adventure „The Black Mirror“ ist über 20 Jahre alt, was man an manchen technischen Aspekten wie etwa der Bildschirmauflösung (800 x 600) merkt. Dem Spielspaß hat es nicht geschadet.

An der Umsetzung kann man Kritikpunkte haben: Manche Animation der Gesprächspartner ist unnatürlich zäh, gerade zu Beginn ist das Vorankommen sehr dialog- und wegelastig (man übt bald den Doppelklick, um schneller von A nach B zu kommen). Außerdem ist das Spiel teilweise sehr linear: Man sieht einen Nagel, erhält den Hinweis, dass er locker ist und versucht vergeblich, ihn unter Einsatz allen Inventars zu lösen. Ein paar Informationen später weiß man, für was man ihn braucht, und kann ihn auf einmal - aber erst dann - einfach nehmen.

Das sind alles aber nur kleine Störungen im Gesamtbild. Insgesamt sind die Szenerien sowohl optisch als auch akustisch sehr atmosphärisch und stimmungsvoll gestaltet, man merkt bald nicht mehr, wie gering die Auflösung eigentlich ist. Die Geschichte um die Todesfälle in der Familie Gordon und um sie herum wiederum ist spannend und mysteriös - ich war durchgängig neugierig, wie es wohl weitergeht.

Highlight: Die deutsche Sprachvertonung. David Nathan - eine der Stimmen von Johnny Depp - spricht die Hauptfigur Samuel Gordon, auch die weiteren Stimmen sind namhaft besetzt.

Gutes Adventure, war die Spielzeit von insgesamt rund 17 Stunden definitiv wert.
