Bob Dylan used to seem like kind of a dick to me which is why I couldn't quite feel the music.

But I kinda get it now. And I'm feeling this song today

            PINK FLOYD
            Soundtrack From The Film "More"
            1978 Canada reissue

Was in the mood for some pre-DSOTM Floyd tonight, and realized it had been quite some time since I’ve listened to this.

Lotta cool stuff on here; my favorite of which being the awesome “Green Is The Colour”, a Waters-penned gem.

One very distinct memory of this album:

Being 17 years old at a pretty wild party that ended getting busted up by the cops. Myself and a few of the other people I went with FLED (we were armed to the teeth with a bunch of shit that would have DEFINITELY gotten us arrested or worse); we scaled a fence and then hid out at the park and smoked til we thought it was safe.

We went back to the party an hour later, and the kid whose house it was was the only person left. So we just put this album on and did bong hits until we passed out at 5am.

Enjoy being young and dumb, kids.
            It don’t get much better.

Had fun at with Percival Schuttenbach and co. Covered all of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, including DLC. Lots of cinematic and trailers new to me (often because I made different in game choices). About 2 hours of music, but with story lines stitched together in short vignettes. Loved the live rendering of Wolven Storm.

A black stage with a large screen at the top center. An image from the Blood and Wine DLC for The Witcher 3 is visible, showing a pastoral scene with trees and a meadow. Below the screen is a musical ensemble, with strings and winds on the left and the members of Percival Schuttenbach on the right, with period Polish instruments, in front of two guitar players and a vocalist. A conductor stands before a large see through shield that surround a massive drum kit and drummer.

Today's biggest news in music is the release of Taylor Swift's twelfth studio album, "Death of a Showgirl." Here's what @Billboard had to say about it. "The limit does not exist to how high Swift can keep soaring — anytime her downfall (or even a notable downturn) has been predicted, she climbs higher and winks at her naysayers," writes Jason Lipshutz. "By pivoting back to pop anthems with humor, empathy, a little fury and a lot of wisdom, Swift ensures that ascent will continue."

Definitely one of the strangest records in my library, and one that’s certainly not for the average general music listener.

The personnel here features a healthy portion of the “Art Bears” crowd; Fred Frith, Chris Cutler, and Marc Hollander.

This is some demented and deeply experimental art rock; wide ranging in its vibe from classical, to Zappa, to French pop.
I’m happy to have an original press of this, as those who are familiar with it and love it had been clammering for a reissue of it for years, until Crammed Discs did one in 2018.

If you’re into weird shit, you’ll love it.

If you’re not, it’s going to be very difficult making it through to the second song.

It’s Thursday Night, but my weekend starts now.

                                                      Long day today.
Needed a sure-fire “make me feel great” record.
                                                      Who better than The Ramones?

Road To Ruin has my favorite Ramones song on it, which is kind of a dark horse choice, but I’ve always loved it. “Don’t Come Close” has been covered by every band I’ve ever been in since I was 16, and it’s a song I’ve never had to convince ANY of my band mates on.

30+ years of being a musician, and it’s the only cover choice that’s never received a single “nay” vote in all those years.

By the way… who the fuck hates The Ramones?!??
                                                      Do those people even exist?

This is kind of a fascinating look into where they started. You can tell they’re still really raw, and haven’t quite found that particular Spacemen footing, but it’s still a great listen. Super slow and super drone-y psych blues.
A wonderful artifact to have if you’re really into this band.

I spent a few weeks looking at budget guitars that would serve my needs. It’s interesting that no matter what instrument you’re learning, the first one you should get is ‘probably a Yamaha’. I got a Yamaha CG172SF from my local Guitar Center.

Instrument procurement is usually the first barrier to adults learning to play something. Something the choice feels vast, or you’re afraid you’ll pick something wrong. Or you can’t afford it.

I have a local music school that does sliding scale for most classes, and they also loan out instruments. Maybe look for something like that in your community.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found that when I’m in the mood for King Crimson, I’m always reaching for this one.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve listened to this band, so naturally Ive decided to start from the very beginning with their first album.

Before Spiritualized, Jason Pierce was toiling away with Pete Kember in Spacemen 3.

Super drone-y and shoegazy with a touch of blues and Suicide-inspired art rock.

The first few original UK pressings of Spacemen 3 albums on Glass Records are very pricey (& hard to find in good shape); going for upwards of a couple of hundred dollars each.

Fire Records did a great job on all of these reissues, so if they’re available to you, don’t hesitate to pick them up. This one in particular sounds great.

                                                                                                              Essential .
